Sharp Denies Unlawful Nintendo DS Screen Practice
Electronics company Sharp has complained to the Japan Fair Trade Commission. This comes in relation to fines that were issued after it supposedly violated anti-monopoly laws in its manufacture of LCD screens for the Nintendo DS.

On December 18th Sharp was issued a cease and desist order, as well as a fine of ¥261 million (£2 million) due to claims that it exchanged information with Hitachi Displays before selling screens to Nintendo.

Sharp, however, "...believes that there was no violation of the Antimonopoly Act in connection with these dealings. Therefore, we intend to explain our case in the complaint procedures and seek for a fair decision under the law." The company called the orders "unacceptable".
