Several sources are claiming that gaming's two most recognisable icons are teaming up again for more Olympic action. Yes, rumour has it that
Mario & Sonic at the Winter Olympics is in development at SEGA.
The rumour started with Spanish games magazine
Nintendo Accion, which
apparently published a story stating that the game is on the way.
This was followed by
Eurogamer stating that a "secret source" or "person who knows about this sort of thing" has confirmed the story.
The rumour was further backed up by a "source close to
CasualGaming.biz". We'd prefer a source close to SEGA or Nintendo, but there you go.
SEGA, for its part, is keeping Mum.
While individually all three stories look a bit flimsy, added together they're a little more compelling (assuming they're not borrowing from each other). Throw in the fact that
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games made (and continues to make) cash by the bucketload and it all starts to look quite plausible.
