Good news! Ubisoft has said that it will release Massive Entertainment's
World in Conflict: Soviet Assault add-on for the PC in March.
Bad news! The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions, which were supposed to come with the original game's first console outing, are AWOL. At no point in the announcement do they appear. SPOnG contacted Ubisoft for comment on where they are and was told, "For the moment we're releasing
Soviet Assault on PC only and have no plans at this time to release (it) or the
Complete Edition on consoles."
The
Complete Edition in question is, predictably,
World in Conflict: Complete Edition, which includes the original game,
Soviet Assault and, according to Ubisoft, "other exciting all-new features". If you already own
WiC, you'll have to get the expansion online.
World in Conflict has had a tricky time over the last year. The game and its developer Massive were part of the
Activision Blizzard cullings last summer, with their futures apparently hanging in limbo.
Ubisoft swooped in to acquire the game and developer, but not a lot's been heard from them since.
Until now!
