Sony's CEO Sir Howard Stringer is combating the company's biggest ever operating loss of 260 billion yen (£2,094,974,203 at today's rate of exchange) by not taking his bonus. Not only is this Sony's biggest loss, it is also its first in 14 years.
In fact, not just Sir Howard but - according to AP via Forbes, "...two other top executives, including President Ryoji Chubachi" will give up bonuses. You've got to feel for these guys, maybe almost as much as you might feel for the 8,000 full-time and 9,000 temporary staff who will be giving up their entire jobs.
Stringer is looking to further restructure the organisation, outsourcing TV production to India and seeking early retirement for an undisclosed number of full-time staff (above and beyond those already mentioned). In terms of the Sony Computer Entertainment, however, nothing solid has been announced for restructuring. In fact, if SCE president Kaz Hirai is to be believed, the division in the form of the PS3 at least, has another nine and half years to do.
