Motion sensing for the Nintendo DS, without a new DS or a chunky add-on? Surely not. Well, not so surely if a Japanese trademark applied for by Nintendo recently is to be believed.
The application is for a 'DS Houi Sensor Card'. The 'Houi' in question apparently
translates to either 'placenta' or 'siege, encirclement, envelopment' or 'direction'. Or it
could mean, "vestment; priest's robe".
Yes, it's most likely not to mean 'placenta' unless there's a '
Imagine Making A Baby' coming soon. So, 'direction' is a likely bet.
As
Siliconera points out, "It would be interesting if Nintendo built direction/motion sensing directly into DS cards without the use of an accessory."
Along with the DS patent comes one for the Wii. This refers to "Wii Golden Handle" - apparently a golden steering wheel for
Mario Kart Wii.
