Resident Evil Director Loves Blu-ray

But screw the critics

Anderson: or is one of the blokes from Take That!?
Paul W.S. Anderson - the director behind the Mortal Kombat and Resident Evil movies - has confirmed that the Resi Evil 4 movie is in the making and that he hearts Blu-ray.

Talking to Eclipse Magazine, Anderson apparently states that, "There will be a Resident Evil 4 film and they are working on it now."

Unsurprisingly he also makes it clear that - much like Uwe Boll - he "doesn't care what critics think" about his work. Bear in mind that these critics tend to hate everything he does.

Finally, he points out that he "loves the Blu-ray format and thinks that if you put a movie on it, you should use it to its fullest extent". We've got to agree with that, as thus far we're hard pushed to find a Blu-ray anything that extends the 'movie experience' beyond that of DVD... other than extending the price.

So, let's hope that the new movie is watchable... maybe as watchable as the Resident Evil 5 trailers below.

Big action films like Hellboy2 / Dark Knight and documentaries with HD photography (e.g. Planet Earth) are massively improved by Blu-Ray. The sound is much better too, assuming you have a good 5.1 system and visuals improve from 32" (on a 720p) and you really need 40" or more for 1080p. With the right kit, it's fantastic - but minimal benefit otherwise.

There is minimal improvement from 720p to 1080p I have compared my 40inch 720p set to my friends 40inch 1080p and my parents 50inch 1080p the screen is shiny thats about it but image quality minimal improvement.

Also blu-ray doesn't mean the movies are improved its all about the space because you could easily put a hd movie on a dvd if there was enough space.

its all about the space... well f**kin' duh. what exactly is a blu ray disk, but a dvd with more space on it.

also, TV quality isn't just about how much resolution it has. there are plenty of other specifications that go along with it. for the last time you cant say something is fact just from your own personal experiences SS4. just because you haven't seen something doesn't mean it doesn't exist. you may have an amazing quality 720p screen, and you're parent's/"friend's" 1080p screens might be not top line, good TVs.

from my own experience, i have a copy of the same film on dvd and on blu ray (the blu ray was free with my ps3) and i watched them both, from my ps3, on my 26" 720p screen. now, to tell you the truth, i didnt really see the difference. they both looks pretty good, not so much of a step up from dvd quality at all.

then, i watched the blu ray, through my ps3 on my girlfriend's parents 42" 1080p screen. and i never thought id say it, but i was blown away, the image was f**king amazing. also, the player you use is important, we watched the dark knight on dvd through her dad's upscaling dvd player, and it looked terrible. but through the ps3 it looked pretty good.

so yeah.

LMFAO!! Hahahahaha most stupidist comment ever 'and you're parent's/"friend's" 1080p screens might be not top line, good TVs.'

Yeah the top spec Samsung's which have the same panels as the Sony HDTV's which are S-PVA panels, not top of the line my ass.

Stop kidding yourself the image quality from 720p to 1080p is not have much different.

Jesus, you are such a dick. SUCH A DICK! That's like saying "I could easily fit a couple of elephants into my Mini Cooper if there was enough space". THERE ISN'T ENOUGH SPACE, THAT'S THE POINT YOU F**KWIT.

And, SuperSaiyan4, you REALLY need to read that bit under every time you comment that says "Go on, give it a check through so you don't look like a 9 year old to other users" because you look like a f**king 5 year old to most of us. Terrible grammar, terrible spelling; and you really should do some research into when to use "you're" and when to use "your". Here is a hint to get you started: if, during a sentence, you COULD say "you are" then that is when you can use "YOU'RE". The apostrophe signifies the letters that have been skipped for the sake of brevity.

As in: "you are a f**king knobcheese" = "you're a f**king knobcheese".

With that, I am soooo gone.

right.

1. did you list what tv your parent's/"friend's" have, no you didn't. so how in the WORLD would i know which ones they have, so how in the WORLD is that a stupid comment. (btw i use "friend's" like that, as im pretty sure you have none)

2. just because a TV is expensive doesn't mean it has a better picture. i have seen £1,500 sony tvs look WAY worse than their £700 brethren.

3. you have no idea what you are talking about, if you want to talk about people using the same screens/technology, then say LG supply screens/components to most companies, sony et al.

btw, im a professional cameraman and have been working with HD for years now.

GOD, i don't know why i bother you are such a dick sometimes.

In all of years I've been reading forums, I have never come across such an arrogant, retarded prick as SS4. I've been reading this site for a very long time and everytime I choose to read some comments, I (unfortunately) have to come across your pathetic comments. "Blu Ray has more space and that's the only difference". Well duh! More space means being able to get more out of the disc, hence prettier images, clearer sounds and more feautres. Is that too hard for you to get your head around?

I mean, are you f**king deluded or something? I can see the difference between Blu Ray and DVD. I recently started buying BD and I've so far watched a number of movies including Rambo 4 and Hellboy 2 and I can see the difference. I have a 32" 1080p Samsung TV and have no trouble seeing sharper, more defined objects, and brighter, richer colours.

I did have HD DVD for the 360 but that player is just utter s**te and I sold all my HD DVDs. Good job I paid only £25 for the drive and a few pounds for each of the films. I noticed the difference with those too but for some reason, the 360 and its drive couldn't seem to handle 1080p (jerking framerates) so I ditched it. It might be to with the Xbox being a cheaply manfactured piece of s**t. Don't get me wrong, I like the games (even though I only 10 games due to the fact that most on offer are repetitive, shooter drivel or boring car and sports crap), but there's not hiding the fact that the 360, including nearly ALL its accessories, are cheap bits of plastic charged at ridiculous prices. None of them fulfil their potential. Even the dpad lets down what could have been a good controller. What retard decided on that?

I'm not saying I like the PS3 either, but it is a better value piece of kit in terms of sturdiness and reliability. It just has no games, which is a shame for Sony lovers.

A long rant yes, but for my first post it just all came out like that. And you SS4. Look past your own retarded arrogance and see some reliaty, You may as well as work for Mshite as they are as deluded and retarded as you sound

also:

"Stop kidding yourself the image quality from 720p to 1080p is not have much different."

at what point did i say that. i said the opposite infact. i said, there IS more to it than simply higher resolution.

your selective reading astounds me sometimes.

I should say that Blu-ray quality also depends on the transfer. Hellboy 2 looks fantastic - but old films converted cheaply (e.g. Predator 2 I watched last week) have little to no improvement. It's a poor conversion and no better than DVD... which is why I only buy the Blu-ray version if HD Digest suggests the upgrade is worth the extra.

yes, because the case you have put forward is so succinct and thought provoking.

what that guy said before is right, you are so arrogant, which is really odd, as at least usually, there's a little bit of intelligence to come with arrogance.

you have a serious case of, you're right, and the world is wrong. cant you see that if EVERYONE is saying you're a dick, and it is only you saying that everyone else is wrong, that maybe, just maybe, you might be wrong.

the fact that i just agreed with your statement, and yet you say i know nothing about technology, even though i was AGREEIng in saying that there isn't much of a difference between 1080p and 720p, but its OTHER things that make the different, contrast ratio, the type of processor, even down tot he way you set up the TV settings manually. etc etc.

all that, yet you still just try and make insult someone, even though you don't have the brains to back it up at all.

we all could just call you a cocksucker (and people do) but at least people can say why you are, you can only throw out empty insults.

btw, if you don't like somewhere, maybe you shouldn't frequent said place. only an idiot would do that. oh wait...

oh happy christmas to you.
