If you had any doubt that the upcoming mystery game from Bethesda and Splash Damage will be an RPG, Splash Damage has... not quite demolished it, but certainly poured a jug of water on that same doubt. The company, which has developed the likes of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, has hired Richard Ham, lead designer of Fable II, as Creative Director.

The studio has confirmed that Ham will work on the Bethesda title. Very little is known about the game at this stage - when Mark SPOnG spoke with Splash Damage owner, Paul Wedgwood, this summer, he wasn't even sure which platforms it will be on. With Ham's appointment, however, It looks increasingly likely that Splash Damage is shuffling in the direction of an RPG, rather than Bethesda branching out into thoroughbred shooters.

"We have spent months searching for the right person to lead Splash Damage's new title creatively, and Richard is an exact fit", said Paul Wedgwood, owner and Studio Director of Splash Damage. "His stunning track record makes him ideal to drive our vision for such a truly ambitious new multiplatform project. I am constantly flabbergasted by his incredible design wit and intellect."

Richard Ham chimed in to say, "I'm really excited to be at Splash Damage. Their pedigree in shooters is absolutely fantastic and when I met the team and saw what they were working on, I knew I had to be part of it."

This is part of an ongoing push to expand by Splash Damage.

Prior to working at Lionhead, Ham worked on Electronic Arts' The Sims franchise and led the charge on Sony's Syphon Filter series while it lurked on the original PlayStation.
