Forbes is reporting that David Gibson, an analyst at Macquarie Securities, has put a price on the 'operating profit' that Nintendo reaps from each Wii it sells. That figures is $6 (£4 or €4.75).
Strangely, the same feature does not suggest what Sony or Microsoft might be making (or losing) on the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360. The former is, according to the piece, losing money. The latter, "might just break even".
One interesting software-related nugget does crop up however. Apparently, according to Forbes scribe Chana R. Schoenberger, "Nintendo has a higher gross margin on game software than the others (Sony and Microsoft) at 65%, compared with between 50% and 60%."
