Will it? Won't it?

The LittleBigPlanet Image Import Politics Show
Importing images from your PS3's hard disk to LittleBigPlanet for use as stickers seemed like a reasonable idea - unless you are a copyright lawyer working for Sony that is. This would appear to be why a poster called Sam_Protagonist (apparently a 'Senior Community Development Manager'') posted the following to Sony's own US PlayStation forum:

"There are a couple of these rumours flying around today, so to clear things up - image importing is very much technically viable which may have been what Alex (Evans of Media Molecule) is referring to, however there are currently no plans to introduce it for a variety of reasons. Announcements of future content releases, whether free, paid for, feature update, costume, sticker or whatever will always come through the official websites for LittleBigPlanet and Media Molecule, if you hear of updates through any other source please take it with a pinch of salt until it has been confirmed or denied.

Right now there are no plans to introduce image importing to the game, and we'll update if that changes."

That is why the picture to the right of this story appears a little confusing coming as it does from Media Molecule's own Flickr image stream.

The image clearly shows that - in this work in progress shot - you definitely can "Import images from your PlayStation Hard Drive to use as stickers".

Media Molecule not talking to Sony? Sam_Protagonist talking out of school? Media Molecule supporting Sam by showing this as a 'work in progress' backing Sam's statement that " image importing is very much technically viable"?

We have contacted the relevant people for a "We don't comment on rumour or speculation" kind of quote...
