Ultimate? Maybe not for EA's driving extravaganza

Electronic Arts, Criterion Games' developed Burnout Paradise is to be given yet another boxed release called Burnout Paradise The Ultimate Box. We doubt that it will be ultimate and assume that more online updates will be available - as is currently the case.

The new boxed (boxed??) outing kicks off the PC version of the game and also includes Burnout Paradise Network for the PS3 only. We're told that, "Burnout Paradise Network is another Burnout Paradise social innovation that enables players to keep track of friends and keep up with all the latest Burnout news from either inside or outside the game."

Couldn't you do all that already?

The new boxed game comes with Cagney and Bikes content updates. It also comes with 'Burnout Paradise Party'. This is the offline 'multiplayer' mode. We're being sold this as, "designed to allow up to eight friends to 'pass-the-pad' in dozens of Burnout challenges."

If you've already got the game, it will also be sold separately as downloadable content.

Let's go back there though: 'pass-the-pad'? Burnout is being turned into some kind of crippled Wii party gaming experience? What next, a Ravin' Rabbids add-on?

Anyway, other additions included in the new box version include, a restart option added for racing and 'easier control of the early vehicles'.

The box will be available in February 2009. In case you missed it first time around, read our [url=http://spong.com/feature/10109740/Review-Burnout_Paradise]glowing review of the game right here.

I suspect `Boxed` refers to a retail unit rather than digital distribution as the game is available via both formats.

No where does it state thats the only method of play it simply adds an offline party addition, since when did new or extra content become a bad thing SPOnG?

Maybe they're just jealous of people with friends that visit? ;)

Make sense...living in a underwater castle and all, the only thing they can invite are sharks. And they never are friendly, even after a bottle of whiskey.

Whisk(e)y - don't upset the Scottish in your attempts to placate the Irish!
