Nintendo's Fils-Aime: Wii Disaster not Worth $50

Monolith's Disaster: Day of Crisis survival game for the Wii doesn't seem to appeal to Nintendo of America President, Reggie Fils-Aime. That's if you believe a quote attributed to him by IGN’s Matt Casamassina.

The game, in case you've not come across it, "is a panic inducing survival game where players guide Bryce through the disastrous events and and their aftermath. You name them - earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, volcanoes - and this game has got them."

(More details on SPOnG's dedicated game page here.)

According to Reggie - according to Casamassina, "...he doesn’t think Disaster is a $50 game. Especially in terms of audio, which he said is laughable".

Who is publishing it? Why, Nintendo of course. Has Nintendo supported or denied the IGN quote? Not yet.

Well thats like Microsoft saying one of their games is not worth buying, seriously wtf???

Perhaps since Nintendo are PUBLISHING it they should tell the developers to spend more time on the game??

I like the way you don't seem to be able to understand anything unless it's applied to a Microsoft frame of reference. You could have tried to put a bit more effort into your simile.

"Perhaps since Nintendo are PUBLISHING it they should tell the developers to spend more time on the game??"

Speaking as a person who works for a developer, I think it's great that Nintendo don't do this. They do evaluate your game and make suggestions for how it could be better, in their opinion, but leave the creative decisions up to you.

Having worked on projects for the Sony platforms, it's a real pain in the backside the hoops they make you jump through just to get their "permission" to have a game concept approved. I understand Microsoft are similar, but to a much lesser degree.

Sony's recent statement that the PS2 is now an "open platform" because developers don't have to get their approval on designs any more is quite funny because by that definition all Nintendo platforms are, and always have been, open platforms.

I hereby propose that we use scotch and the consumption thereof to explain and coat everything game-related in.

Like this news-item...this would be like John Walker saying "god my scotch is bad" after having too much of his own scotch...so you don't have to be to keen to believe whatever John is really saying...he's bloody drunk...and rich.
