Nintendo President Satoru Iwata has announced that the global credit crunch is not impacting his sales on bit. In fact, he now states that "We are aiming to sell the DS for every individual, not for every household.
Crikey. This statement came during
a press conference in which he also stated:
"As far as the overseas market is concerned, I have not seen any signs of slowing demand for the Wii and the DS due to the financial crisis".
He was speaking shortly after Nintendo declared its net profit forecast for the year ending March 2009. This, despite being lowered by 16% due to the strength of the yen - stands at 345 billion yen (£2.1billion). In case you've not kept up in detail with Nintendo's fiscal history, that would make it record for the company.
This forecast comes on the back of Ninty's half-yearly financials declaration which saw profits up 9.4% to 144.6 billion yen (£925 million).l
