Epic's VP, Mark Rein, has spoken out on rumours that Electronic Arts is poised to buy Epic.
According to the outspoken exec, the rumours are "Rubbish".
The tittle-tattle started with GameGuru, which cited no sources for the information. It claimed that Electronic Arts was more interested in getting its mitts on the next iteration of the Unreal Engine than it was in any of Epic's franchises.
While Epic is denying a buyout by EA is imminent, it is already working with the company in the form of a
project being developed by its People Can Fly studio.
In the past, rumours have abounded that Microsoft was poised to buy Epic. To that, Rein said that Epic would need
$2 billion as a starting price. EA does have $2 billion going spare after the failure of its attempt to buy Take-Two...
Still, if you don't want to turn red and pass out, best not to hold your breath.
Perhaps the most shocking thing about this whole incident, however, is how few words Mark Rein can say if he's so inclined.
