SPOnG has spoken with the UK game developer community, one of whom - for obvious reasons - wishes to remains anonymous today but who has confirmed rumours of Nintendo's planned 'Wii HD'.
Our conversation fits with the news broken by
WhatTheyPlay's John Davidson who reports that he "has heard from multiple sources in the game development and publishing community that Nintendo is currently showing early presentations of its next home console hardware. Apparently set to hit the market "by 2011'".
The 'HD' element of the name - which is not confirmed - remains ambiguous with Davidson's sources stating that, "High definition visuals are assured", and that there is "some form of local storage medium such as a hard drive or large flash memory solution."
Our source actually called the new machine "Hi-Def Wii".
All this comes possibly just hours before Nintendo's president, Satoru Iwata,
is set to reveal the all-new Nintendo DS in Japan. The news of the Iwata press conference has now been confirmed by
MCV.
