UK Video Game Charts: Tiger Woods Hits a Birdie
Ten years after EA launched the Tiger Woods golf franchise it has scored a hole in one in the UK All Formats Chart. If you don't speak golf, that translates to a Number 1 for PGA Tour 09 in its first week of release.

The game débuted on five formats. The Xbox 360 led the way with a 33% share of the sales, followed by the PS3 version at 32% and the Wii at 28%. The remaining 7% was shared between the PSP and PS2.

A new Number 1 means that Nintendo has been shuffled away from the top. Mario Kart Wii and Wii Fit fall one place each, leaving them to Numbers 2 and 3 respectively. Wii Play holds steady at Number 5, rounding out Nintendo's Top 10 presence.

Take-Two enjoys a second week on its second format for Carnival: Funfair Games, the DS, climbing two places to Number 4.

The second highest new entry this week is Microsoft and Silicon Knights' Too Human at Number 8. You can catch SPOnG's interview with Silicon Knights' ever-controversial founder and director, Denis Dyack, here.

EA narrowly misses a second Top 10 début, with The Sims 2: Apartment Life landing at Number 11.

Scoot 24 places down the Chart and you come across a re-entry for Ubisoft, with Scrabble Interactive: 2007 Edition re-appearing at Number 35 thanks to retailer promotion.

Next week: Spore! Plus, expect more Chart action from EA in the form of Mercenaries 2: World in Flames and keep an eye out for an appearance from S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky from Deep Silver.
