Sony Corrects PS3 PlayTV Launch Date
Sony has corrected previously announced details about the launch date of PlayTV, its set top box peripheral for the PS3.

The device will in fact be out on September 19th for a sum of £69.99.

That's nine days after the September 10th release date David Reeves, president of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, gave recently.

PlayTV will allow PS3 owners to watch and record digital TV. If they happen to have PSP too they'll also be able to shift recordings over to the handheld, or view it from elsewhere using Remote Play. Play TV is also ready for HDTV signal, meaning that when the switch from analogue to digital is made in 2009/10 and HDTV becomes more widespread, your PS3 will be good to go.

That's all very nice, innit? It would be nice if we could trust release dates that have come from the head of SCEE though, wouldn't it?

Why must people be so negative about release dates set by Companies (in this case SCEA).

Be glad that when the product is released that there are no major flaws that would require a recall or some kind of warranty extension my be manufaturor (i.e. Xbox360 RROD debocle).

I would rather get a well thought out / developed product which has been delayed several times then some rushed / broken product just to meet some arbitrary deadline.

I get negative about it in the same way as I do when someone says, "I'll meet you outside the train station at 7" and then they don't turn up until the next day. It breeds mistrust and also means that I missed the organ recital I was supposed to be giving at 8:30.

Why should I be glad when a product is released that does what it says it will do, when it says it will do it, in the way it says it will do it and at the price? At best I should be satisfied. But glad?

The first part is a given. The idea, however, that a major corporation and one of its senior executives delivers 'arbitrary deadlines' is wide of the mark. One of the key capabilities of a senior manager is to be able to schedule.

Cheers

LMFAO! You serious? The PS3 was the biggest and still is the biggest flaw and in the industry its the first time Sony had to DEGRADE the PS3 to a substandard 40gb crappy version did Microsoft do that? No instead they released an Elite and further improved on the service by giving out extended warrantys on the 3 red rings AND when they release software updates they come out when they say they do like the major one out THIS Autmumn.

Still waiting for HOME? Still waiting for decent games? Still waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting...Whilst 360 owners are not waiting but PLAYING!

You really, really need to ask? It was a grand concert organ made by William Hill and Son of London in 1870. It had 4,374 pipes and 69 speaking stops.

And an enormous red bellend.

I thank you.

Yup, that's another thread murdered like an innocent child at the hands of a mindless, one-eyed, subtle-as-an-axe, killer.

I was soooo tempted to mod this response to: SS4 Response #2 (of 3) but I am all for free speech and that woolly nonsense.

Sigh

Free speech is over rated and Isn't China fantastic these days, especially for Tibetans.
Or is freedom lost, if freedom is abused? Is it fair that SS4 turns every thread into a stream of abuse aimed at SS4?
Please discuss.

Fair point. But don't you feel that applying Noel Coward levels of wit, to your posts, to someone who’s stopped responding, is a bit of a waste? For all we know, SS4 just sits back, watching all the reply notes coming in, and thinking “these must be my friends”, as he takes no further part after the hit and run post has been left.

I think he is some sort of Comment based software program, either that or he is like the YTS lad at the bread factory who takes hit after hit of abuse but smiles laughs it off and still wants to be your best bud at the end of the day. its a shame we cant make him run errands! or either that or he is currently writing a hit list as he strokes his sniper rifle.

Usually there is some underlying logic behind a program, and I find that imposable to detect in SS4. Though there is a very standardised form to his posts, so maybe, some truth there.

As for the revenge sniper theory; do you think he’d know which end was dangerous? Plus rifles are harder to get hold of these days. You can’t buy them mail order any more. Well you can try but they just go missing in the post.
