Come Thursday, the world will be getting a
Street Fighter 'surprise'. By the end of today (or the end of the day somewhere in the world, anyway) we should know what it is.
In a forum post on the PlayStation Blog, John Diamonon (an associate product manager at Capcom) said, "I can, however, tell you that there’s a
Street Fighter surprise next Thursday. Go to
Capcom-Unity.com this Monday to find out!"
SPOnG went to Capcom Unity and there was no news up there at the time of press.
So, let the speculation begin! It's pretty safe to say that this is a PlayStation Network 'surprise'. Diamonon was posting in response to a query about a possible 'surprise' tied to the PSN release of
Bionic Commando: Rearmed, which is out on Thursday.
SPOnG's guess is that a beta for
Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix is heading to PSN, with keys being dished up alongside purchases of
Bionic Commando: Rearmed. A beta for the game is underway on Xbox Live, with Capcom's decision to not put it on PSN and
claim that Sony couldn't host a beta at the time having sparked a big ol' dollop of controversy.
Another possibility is trophy support. Every time someone opens their mouth about a PS3 game at the moment it seems to be relating to trophy support. That said, unless Capcom is releasing
SSF2THDR (longest acronym ever?) super early, it would be difficult for the publisher to dish up news today and then deliver the surprise itself on Thursday...
