PlayStation 3 Budget Titles - US versus UK

Friday is launch day

Posted by Staff
Okay, so this Friday (August 1st) sees the first tranche of PS3 budget-priced games both here in Blighty and over there in North America. Here's a quick comparison of the offerings we are currently aware of:

UK: Price = £19.99 ($39) - called 'Platinum' as you'd expect from PS2 history.
USA: Price = $29.99 (£15) - called 'Greatest Hits'.

Game Line-Ups

USA - in Red Boxes
Warhawk (no headset)
Motorstorm (also UK)
Resistance: Fall of Man (also UK)
Call of Duty 3
EA Sports Fight Night Round 3
Need for Speed: Carbon
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas
Assassin’s Creed
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Ninja Gaiden Sigma

UK - in Yellow Boxes
Uncharted: Drakes Fortune
Heavenly Sword
Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction
Resistance: Fall of Man
Motorstorm

So far then, more first-party titles come to the UK (well, Europe) but no confirmed third-party titles as we go to press. North America, however, does get third-party input.

So which of these titles is worth having?
I'm asking those who've played the full games, as I've tried the demos, and just want to be even more of a cheapskate, by exploiting those who've paid full whack, to further reduce my costs.

Thanks.

the american box shots (the english ones just being a mock up of sorts) actually look kinda cool, with the red box. not as budgety as one might expect.

Uncharted: Drakes Fortune
Heavenly Sword
Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction
Resistance: Fall of Man
Assassin’s Creed
Ninja Gaiden Sigma

the others I haven't played or ain't that good

and I don't feel your takin' advantage of me, I'm proud I paid the full price for them.

I liked the look of "Uncharted: Drakes Fortune" and "Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction" but wasn't so sure from the demos, about "Resistance: Fall of Man" and "Heavenly Sword".
From the demo "Resistance: Fall of Man" seemed a bit of a grid, but I like FPSs. So what sets it apart, and what gives it the legs to keep you playing?

I'd have to add Warhawk to that list, most fun online game I've played. Really woth the money, but then it's available as a download from PSN too.
