Capcom has released the first screens for its Wii version of
Dead Rising, along with making its official announcement and giving us the game's real name in the process.
Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop is the name. You might be thinking, 'new name, different game', eh? That would seem to be the natural assumption, but Capcom isn't saying a lot about differences between the 360 and Wii versions. Capcom does specifically say the new game is "Based on" the 360 game, rather than a port.
What Capcom does tell us is that the game has "Improved save functionality" aimed at enabling "more seamless gameplay". Capcom has also stated that the game is being developed using the same engine as the Wii version of
Resident Evil 4. We also get the obligatory sentence about the Wii Remote - "New level of interaction – aim and fire guns, swing and throw weapons and shake off zombie attacks with added Wii Remote functionality".
News of a Wii version of
Dead Rising began circulating last week, with SPOnG telling you about the official website
on Friday.
SPOnG is jolly glad to see that Capcom, at least, is making some effort to provide hardcore games for the Wii that aren't just the obligatory simultaneous ports of big releases. Original games would be nice, but at least the publisher's making the effort. You can find out more about
Chop Till You Drop over on SPOnG's
dedicated game page.
