10:00am tomorrow in the UK sees PlayStation 3 owners who enjoy combatty, troop fighting in the form of the now established (e.g. a year old)
Warhawk downloading the latest update. This contains, among other things two new 'modes' - it is also free.
The first mode is called Master Chief... no, just kidding, it's called Hero. We are told that, "This is a team-based game mode in which one member of each team is randomly selected to be their team’s Epic Hero. Players score points for their team by killing the enemy Hero or by killing enemies while they’re the Hero. The team that reaches the score limit first (or has the most points when time runs out) wins the game."
Next mode is 'Collection', a sort of capture the flag outing in which, instead of a flag, you have four energy cores that need to be returned to your reactor.
Also included in the v1.4 update are a number of patches and tweaks including:
Quick-Join - basically, a server selector button based on your preferences and system (latency) capacity.
Respawn Selection Hint - yes, aimed at noobs (new and welcomed players who will shortly be sliced and diced), this basically tells them "Don't spawn here, you will be sliced and diced... spawn here."
Afterburner Flight to Hover Transition - yay! Go straight into hover with your afterburners engaged.
Kick-Idle Player Server Option - at last, you can now tell your own server to get rid of hang-about, time-wasters.
