Ubisoft Launches Wii-Exclusive Party Game Label

First title detailed

Ubisoft is set to launch a new Wii-exclusive party games label, dubbed 'Play Zone'. To mark the occasion, the publisher has released details of the first title in the range - Sports Party.

For the label itself... well, everything you need to know is in the phrases "Wii exclusive" and "party games". Ubisoft tells us, "The Play Zone titles will provide immediate entertainment & recreation thanks to original and numerous mini-games to be shared by all family members and friends."

Which takes us to Sports Party. It features nine different activities, including basketball (which has three different mini-games), croquet, lawn darts, badminton, volley-ball, horse shoes and mini-golf. It all takes place on a tropical island, upon which players will be able to go head to head with each other. The game features three different difficulty levels so your Gran need not be intimidated by the whole thing. Oh, it's control system is gesture-based and uses the Wii Remote, too. Did we even need to tell you that?

SPOnG's a little inclined to groan and question whether we really need a slew of new party games for the Wii, but we can't fault Ubisoft for knowing which way it's bread is buttered. Plus, there's always the chance that Sports Island, sorry, Sports Party, could contain the next Wii Sports golf to endlessly distract us from our work...
