Nintendo: We are Working on Storage But Not

Fischer says a deal about nothing

Magic flying storage!
Apparently Nintendo Wii owners are up in arms about not having external storage for their console. That at least is what we were lead to believe by the number of news sources saying so. Frankly, we're not convinced that the vast majority of Wii owners give a nunchuk one way or the other.

Nintendo Europe’s marketing chief Laurent Fischer is savvier, however, he can 'detect' that gamers really, really want external storage. So can the rest of Nintendo. Fischer says that, "...it's something that we're working on."

So, storage is being worked on, only it will come in a magical way because, "Definitely there's no plan to issue hardware, an external hard drive, but we know that we have an issue in that area.

"It's very obvious and we're perfectly aware of it, but there's nothing we can say beyond this."

Of course it's not magic! It's either going to be online storage or Nintendo will increase the amount of storage available to to flash memory from the 512Mb currently achievable.

Storage online? Like you can redownload games that don't fit on your Wii internal memory? Like what is the case right now and has been for the past 2 years? Enteresting. I assume spong isn't suggesting we play Wiiware titles directly online? Because we'd be downloading the games over and over everytime we'd be playing.

If they just allow SD memory cards up to 4 gigabyte to be accessed directly, everybody would be happy.

LOL, oh Nintendo. You are like my mother, trying to use her mobile phone to send text messages (in other words, doing something in a complex way for something so simple to do). I'm must now chuckle at you annoyingly.

What's that? You don't know if gamers really really want a hard drive. If you really wanted to find out, you'd use the Everybody Votes channel to gauge interest in what you claim is a lack of interest. Guess Nintendo aren't smart enough to do that.

Still not sure enough? Then get out there and do some market research on your fans. You only learn by asking the right questions, and asking none like Nintendo are, and fudging the issue is insulting to all their customers, let alone the hardcore ones. I'm sure many games magazines out there, will also let you stick a questionaires inside their new issues, if you ask nicely.

Storage online would be nice, but do little for those Wii gamers not online, in the same kind of way that not everyone has wi-fi.

This is ridiculous... Seriously Nintendo...

I honestly was a fanboy for the longest time, ya I'll admit it, but my Nintendoism turned sour once the Gamecube hit... What the hell are you thinking Nintendo? Do you guys even play games? Ok, don't get me wrong, I really do love the fact that they're making games for broader audiences, our population has NEVER been bigger. ::Speaking of, I love Andy McNamara of GI's comment about it in July issue:: And you still can NOT beat Nintendo's almost perfect record as a first party developer. I can actually see Nintendo ending up like Sega as a third-party, and honestly, I think I would actually prefer it...

But a lot of the qualities of the system suck! I mean, ya the remote is kinda neat for a while, but honestly, I never play anything with the motion controls besides RE4 and Metroid Prime: Corruption.

They need some damn quality control too. I better not see anything by Ninjabread Man developer Data Design ever again, or I might be forced to break into Nintendo HQ with decapitated dolls of Mario and friends as well as a fully-automatic Uzi...

You're dead to me Nintendo.

That has to be the single dumbest post i've read this year. And what's really disturbing, is that you actually went through the trouble of registering in order to be able to write down this crap. I should 've known not to read any further the moment you started bitching about the GCN.

Lol, you're entitled to your opinion, as well I am to mine. But just know that I didn't register just to write that post... This is my first time ever visiting this site, and I like what they [Spong] are doing for the industry. :)
