This Friday won't pass without a handful of new Virtual Console titles, either.
First up, we have
Pokémon Puzzle League, which was first released on the N64 back in 2001. Players go up against the best Pokémon trainers in Puzzle League Village to get involved in that stalwart of puzzling, clearing the falling blocks. If your combos are epic enough, however, you'll be able to set loose attacks on your opponent – either the game itself or one of your mates. There are other bits and bobs waiting for you too, however, such as 3D Puzzle Mode and exercises for your gray matter at Pokémon Puzzle University. It can be all yours for 1,000 Wii Points.
If you're looking for a bit more action (violence, if we're going to be honest) you can get
Samurai Shodown, first seen on the Neo Geo in 1993. 12 samurai. Swords. An anger gauge that increases the power of attacks. 900 Wii Points. 'Nuff said.
For more violence you can get
Burning Fight, also first released on the Neo Geo but a couple of years earlier in 1991. Clearly the legacy of the '80s was still alive and kicking back in the early '90s, with players taking on the role of detectives named Duke, Billy or Ryu to take down a jet-setting crime syndicate. As you've no doubt guessed, this ain't a whodunnit. Players will take on the forces of organised crime using their fists and feet, the way real men like Kurt Russell used to fight crime. You can join in for 900 Wii Points.
This week's titles bring the Virtual Console running total up to 223 titles.
Also included in this week's Wii wonders is... the Nintendo Channel.
The channel is, in a nutshell, a promotional vehicle for Nintendo. The channel will provide information on all Wii, DS, WiiWare and Virtual Console titles from both first and third-party developers. The channel will carry videos exclusively created for the Nintendo Channel, including interviews and guides.
What's more interesting is the fact that the channel will also make DS demos available for download for limited periods, enabling users to transfer them to the handheld from the Wii wirelessly.
