Nintendo has just sent word that the DS Lite is being brought to Europe in three new colours.
Three!
Red, turquoise and green will be available from June 13th at the regular (estimated) retail price of £99. They will sit next to the boring old white, black and pink colours that have been around for, like, ever.
Nintendo also took the opportunity to tell us about Cooking Guide: Can’t Decide What To Eat? a new software application for the handheld. It is described as follows, "With its numerous international recipe choices, dish search options, videos and simple step-by-step guides to choosing, preparing and cooking a dish, turning even the most hesitant of cooks into confident chefs will be simple.
Cooking Guide: Can’t Decide What To Eat? is controlled through the Nintendo DS’s Touch Screen and by the user’s voice through the console’s microphone. It is simple for everyone to use, no matter what their previous experience – either with a Nintendo DS or in the kitchen!"
There will be around 250 dishes detailed in the application. Each one of them will have the 'Cooking Guide chef' to talk you through it. SPOnG's hoping the chef in question will turn out to be Gordon Ramsay* – that should be good for the DS's family-friendly branding...
Cooking Guide: Can’t Decide What To Eat? will be out on June 20th.
* Actually, one SPOnG member would prefer the chef to be Thomas Keller or Ferran Adrià Acosta
