Square to showcase a complete Final Fantasy X at E3
Japanese video game giant Squaresoft is currently in preparation for the unveiling of the finished version of Final Fantasy X at E3 this week. The game will showcase in playable form on the PS2, following its success at the Tokyo Game Show last month.

In the forefront of the gaming community’s mind lies a very important question. What improvements have been made since the previous three PlayStation instalments? In response to the Tokyo Game Show event, it is apparent that the company wanted to retain the classic elements of Final Fantasy that make it what it is. The much-vaunted random battles remain intact, along with on-location battle arenas. The infamous Summon Spells return for another outing, and are looking as spectacular as ever. Final Fantasy X is the company’s first role-playing development on a next-generation platform and is the first in the 30-million-selling series to feature real-time 3D environments as standard.

Hopefully, Square will have achieved a careful balance in new and classic features when the game launches in Japan this July. The company is looking for an initial rollout of at least one million units. Details of the American and European launch are scant at present, but a November launch for America is looking promising. But despite being the larger territory, it is thought that the game could slip to early 2002 for Europe. This is likely to be due to language conversion problems.
