Ubisoft has confirmed that a new Prince of Persia title is in development and that it will appear on new generation consoles.

The game is scheduled for release towards the end of the year on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Additionally, a new Prince of Persia game is in development specifically for the DS.

The new-generation title is being developed over at Ubisoft Montreal by the team that brought us the Prince of Persia Sands of Time trilogy. Assassin's Creed was also developed over at Ubisoft Montreal, a fact which can't be hurting the development process...

Ubisoft isn't saying much else about the game right now, other than telling us the new game will feature a “brand-new illustrative art style”. Keep your eye on SPOnG for more on the new Prince of Persia game as we get it.

I liked the first one (sands of time), but never played the others. They seamed to lose the fairytale aspect of the first game.

Hopefully they will go back to that style rather than the darker style of the two sequels.

I was a big fan of the original pop game, and the sequel, the shadow and the flame (PoP 3D with it's cameo from Wing Commanders 'Kilrathi' is best forgotten.).
Loved sands of time, it really was a stand out game from the last gen, but the 2 titles that followed it seemed too much like 'god of war' lite, overly combat/combo heavy for my liking.

Would be nice if this was a remake of the original. The 'save the princess' plot hasn't been used enough in videogames.

One of the things I liked about Sands of Time was that the princess could take care of herself, she was mean with that bow! However, like king skins, I went off the series after the second one placed more emphasis on combat; I always like exploring more than combat.

I was mostly enamoured by the jumping and the pulling himself up. I thought that was about as realistic as we ever needed to get.

I am mostly being old.

Cheers
