Nintendo's taking the opportunity provided by the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco to show off
Smash Bros Brawl. As if that opportunity wasn't enough, it's using that as an opportunity to send some new screens our way.
They might have a bittersweet tang to them for some, however. Following a rash of rumoury, Nintendo has said that
Smash Bros is not, in fact, confirmed for a June 6th release in Europe. A Nintendo representative told SPOnG, "This is a rumour and purely speculative. Nintendo is yet to confirm any release dates for
Smash Bros."
Of course, that leaves plenty of wiggle room for Nintendo to turn around and say that the game will, in fact, be released on June 6th and that it just wasn't confirmed at this point...
The rumour originated with Dutch website Gamercc.com, which claimed that Nintendo confirmed the date at the Micromania Games Awards in France last night.
Best not to complain about it, SPOnG reckons. We did get release dates for
Wii Fitness and
Mario Kart Wii today and these new screens, after all.
