Activision's DJ Hero Only a Trademark?

Publisher keeps schtum

A famous DJ.
A famous DJ.
Activision is currently keeping quiet with regard to a DJ Hero game spinning forth from its Guitar Hero franchise.

Following the appearance of a trademark filing for the phrase 'DJ Hero', speculation has spread that a game similar to Guitar Hero - but that sticks players in a little booth is on the way.

The goods the filing is made against include, "Computer game software and related instruction manual sold together as a unit; interactive video game programs; computer game discs; downloadable software for use in connection with computer games; video game controllers; Interactive video game comprised of a CD or DVD sold as a unit with a video game controller".

While a DJ game with 'Hero' branding on it would make great big steaming pile of sense, it may just be that Activision is keeping its bases covered or making sure no one else piggy backs on its branding. At the time of press, however, no comment was available either way.

Activision demonstrated its willingness to take the franchise in a new direction last week when it announced that Guitar Hero: Aerosmith will be getting released this summer.

If we don't get DJ Hero, SPOnG at least hopes to see Oboe Hero or Glockenspiel Hero by the end of the year. Should Activision release Accordian Hero, however, SPOnG will hunt down every last board member and force them to listen to our experimental rock album (The Stars are all Down in the Misanthropy of Our Wenus), discs one through 36.

I think I've finally come up with the ultimate edition of the franchise: Diddley-Bow Hero.
