Street Fighter IV: Abel Unveiled

New screens and info inside...

Capcom has released the first screens, art and details on a new character it's throwing into the mix for Street Fighter IV - Abel.

Abel is, as Capcom tells us, "a mysterious young man" who uses "a mixture of multiple martial arts." Mysterious indeed, as the bio released by Capcom reveals... not a right lot. Here's what Capcom says:

"With no memory of his past, this young man has no choice but to move forward, using any clue he can get his hands on to rout out what may be left of Shadaloo. His fighting style represents a mix of multiple martial arts. Though he appears gruff and unfriendly on the surface, he is not the misanthrope he seems to be. His serious and polite nature is easy to misinterpret as indifference, but these still waters run deep indeed."

Abel's revelation coincides with Capcom's first big showing of the new game at Amusement Expo 2008 in Chiba, not far from Tokyo. Attendees reportedly queued for an hour and a half to get their twitchy mitts on the game. Seth Killian, a Capcom events organiser and also a former Street Fighter champion, said that Capcom hopes to make the game more accessible than previous entries into the series. "Later Street Fighters became complicated and were very expert-focused. This is more accessible but still with plenty in it for experts", he said.

Another new character that has been unveiled for the game is Crimson Viper. We first saw her in some Famitsu scans, but we got a closer look in some screens and artwork SPOnG brought you earlier in the week.

Keep your eye on SPOnG's dedicated game page for all the latest on Street Fighter IV.

What is it with Capcom? Every bloody fighter in the SF series has amnesia!
The only one who doesn't is Ryu. He's just a vagrant who likes punching people.

SF4 (can I call it SFIV) is looking better with every screenshot released.
I didn't like the look of the low polygon people in the background from the early shots but everything is looking more polished here.
