Street Fighter II Faces New Challenge On Wii

Fight!

If, like SPOnG, your thumbs have been twitching in a manner that makes functioning in everyday life untenable ever since you heard about Street Fighter IV, Nintendo has a little somethin'-somethin' to tide you over. This week sees the release of Super Street Fighter II The New Challengers from Capcom on Virtual Console for the Wii.

Originally released on the SNES back in 1993 (yes, they really had games back then), The New Challengers follows in the footsteps of the classic Street Fighter II. You'll find familiar faces and settings, but you'll also find four characters not seen in the original. Namely, we got Cammy, an English Delta Red agent, Fei Long, a Bruce Lee-alike, Deejay, a Jamaican kickboxer and the Native American T Hawk. As well as the noobs, the game introduced new special moves and customisable costumes. You can have it all for 800 Wii Points.

This week's release brings Virtual Console's running total up to 185 games.

Meh! I remember games in the 80's. You had to type them in yourself and then debug them and then they weren't any good. You 90's kids have it easy.

Now get off my lawn!

i remember games in the 30`s you would have to use your imagination and push wheels around with sticks or run up and down new york building sites while actual 30 foot gorillas would throw barrels at you while wearing ahammer on your belt as was the style at the time, after which you would catch the trolly to the cinematography house to catch a glimpse at Greta Garbo`s Ankles then home for your 6pm beating from your drunk father who emtionally repressing his homosexual desires while your mother cried while cooking fried lard and grits............

I remember when I got SFII: SCE for genesis I thought it was awesome, but then when I realized the SNES had Cammy and the cursed like there was no tomorrow. Genesis=better gameplay options, etc, SNES=more characters...why must you torment us with 1,800 versions of the same games, capcom?!

Sometimes I used to think it would have been easier to type them in myself than wait for the tape cassette to load them...
