The ongoing
Goldeneye 007-to-XBLA (or not) saga ongoes. Even
Nintendo's own Satoru Iwata name has been dragged into the fray.
Yet both Microsoft and Nintendo themselves have remained in a dignified state of aloofness.
We have, however, heard today that Nintendo will not confirm that the game will be hitting Virtual Console this year. Of course, we can take that to mean that it's not denied either, but that is starting to get daft.
This afternoon a Microsoft representative got hold of the SPOnG newsdesk in order to pass on the following regarding the kerfuffle:
"We don't comment on rumours and speculation. While the games community's response to this rumour is extremely flattering, we don't have anything to announce at this time."
We're not entirely sure why it's flattered except in the way anybody might be with whole heaps of attention being paid to them. However, the last sentence could hold out some hope for some appearance of gaming great. Nothing to announce 'at this time' looks so much like a carrot leading us to a happy future... that, for now, we'll keep following.
