Nintendo will not confirm virtual console

Microsoft Flattered by Goldeneye 007 Rumours
The ongoing Goldeneye 007-to-XBLA (or not) saga ongoes. Even Nintendo's own Satoru Iwata name has been dragged into the fray.

Yet both Microsoft and Nintendo themselves have remained in a dignified state of aloofness.

We have, however, heard today that Nintendo will not confirm that the game will be hitting Virtual Console this year. Of course, we can take that to mean that it's not denied either, but that is starting to get daft.

This afternoon a Microsoft representative got hold of the SPOnG newsdesk in order to pass on the following regarding the kerfuffle:

"We don't comment on rumours and speculation. While the games community's response to this rumour is extremely flattering, we don't have anything to announce at this time."

We're not entirely sure why it's flattered except in the way anybody might be with whole heaps of attention being paid to them. However, the last sentence could hold out some hope for some appearance of gaming great. Nothing to announce 'at this time' looks so much like a carrot leading us to a happy future... that, for now, we'll keep following.

Microsoft got duped. Bitter Nintendo, who now own 0% of Rare, have even stopped asking for Rare to develop for them. This is a sad case of elitist Nintendo execs getting 'some revenge' whilst Microsoft try and make some $$$ back with a game from Rare that will sell well - and cost close to nothing to distribute via XBLA. Pure profit.

As I said elsewhere, I own all three 'next gen' console, but the Wii is being Ebayed tonight. Nintendo just lost another long term gamer from their stable with this pig-headed 'if I can't play then you cant play either' attitude.

1) pure speculation
2) Diddy Kong Racing DS
3) Nintendo is still the only one actually making money of Rare 'till this very day and they wanted to sell Rare because they were too inefficient, how is Nintendo bitter then?
4) Nintendo loves its properties and someone remaking one of their owned games without their supervision is a big no-no in their book.
5) Nintendo could just have hogged all the Rare IP before the sale to Microsoft, they didn't because Nintendo is a gamedeveloper first and they respected Rare's own creative output.

Microsoft just did something stupid and just went remaking the game and then contacting NIntendo. They should have first contacted Nintendo.

Why am i doing this, you're probably a troll anyways.

No more than you are obviously a Nintendo fanboy who has even worse carpal tunnel syndrome since the Wii controller came out.

The article put it best when they pointed out how Nintendo recently blocked Sonic from their console. Talk about cutting your nose off to spite your face.

Bitter little Nintendoites.... The world has moved on. Nintendo has not.

Also specualtion since you're calling mine speculation which based off the same article. Or is yours not speculation for some magic reason?

So you are a troll! Quickly get the hammers out! Hit it on the head, hit on the head! It killed you're mother and father, Hit it Hit it!

Sorry, I've re-read this article a couple of times now, and I can't see the part you're referring to. Has it been removed from the article? Are you referring to an altogether different article than this? Are you just making it up?

It sounds quite interesting; I'd like you to present your source, please.

As the man who pushed the article into the world, I can be as sure as my faculties allow me to be that no mention of Sonic blocking was made. That'd be silly... considering Sonic and Mario have been at the Olympic Games on the Wii for a while now.

So, no - it was never in this article and nor was any mention pulled.

(Oh, when I said my faculties 'allow' I did, of course, mean 'enable')

Cheers

Tim

Wouldn't it be like, the most amazing thing ever if Goldeneye was released on VC and XBLA at the same time?! It could be an industry-altering event.

Which is why it's never going to happen.

And the two could both go online, and people could play against people from the other platform just as easily as their own, and then Jessica Alba started giving head in Trafalgar Square to anyone that asked?

Don't be ridiculous -- I live hundreds of miles away from Trafalgar Square.

I wouldn't want to walk away, that's for sure.

Some of the guys from Rooster Teeth got drunk and commented on this:

Geoff -- I don't know what went wrong, but I can tell you who loses: the annoying people who still live in 1997. Wake up. It's been a decade. New FPSs have been released, some of them even let you jump, or aim while running!
Burnie -- It's too bad, I was hoping someone would make a Nintendo 64 controller for the 360 to go along with the Goldeneye release. I miss wrapping my hands around the worst console accesory ever made. I think I would prefer a controller based on that knife-star thing from Krull.
Nathan -- I am very upset by this. GoldenEye is the root of my brother's carpal tunnel, which is the only reason I am able to beat him now arm wrestling. Of all the "retro" games I was looking forward to playing again, this was at the top of the list. Cyberball was #2. Which I did play. And it sucked.
Jason -- Someone must have realized all my loser friends finished/got kicked out of college and were forced to move on with their lives, thereby leaving no audience for this classic.....ly overrated game.

Amen Jeff, Burnie, and Jason...Amen...

Only you would want to turn a conversation about getting free head from Jessica Alba back to videogames and quote some nerds.

Oh I'm sorry, fantasizing about celebrity snatch just never really fascinated me...and I'm not married so the escapism...escapes me...

An anonymous MILF excites me more than just "yet another Hollywood tart"...guys who watched "Melrose Place" or "Baywatch" for the chicks always struck me as pansies too, just go down to the back room of the video store and rent some porn you dickless bitches...

I do still have a "thing" for Morgan Webb though, especially as "Von Webb"...I'd play Gomez to her Morticia any day...

I will note that rather than ignoring me and continuing to slaver at the thought of Miss Alba schlobbing on yer knob, you chose to confront me...interesting...says something about you...

But some of us watched the Ms Alba 'grow up' in Dark Angel. Something about that really turned me on. Will always have a soft spot for her... even though of late she's got a bit of a Dickinson look going on. Ease off the fake tan love.

Seriously though... Id walk all day if I was guaranteed free head at the end of it, regardless off who was dishing it out (female only)! I put in far more effort on a regular basis and have little to show for it. *sigh*

It doesn't if its a joke.

Jessica Alba was in Dark Angel? Great now I have to track down those episodes and sit trough them, thank you very much! Still have to see Fantastic 4: The Silver Surfer, some said Alba looked like a pornstar with the blond hair and everything, watching that movie (skiping all the bad parts aka the rest of the movie) and then the thoughts of this thread...oooooohyeah...
