Super Smash Bros Brawl Delayed Further?

Commiseration screens inside

It looks like Super Smash Bros Brawl, one of the most hotly anticipated 'gamer's games' lined up for the Wii, has seen a further delay in its shipping schedule.

GameFly, a games rental service in the States, now has the game's release date down as 12/03/2008. Meanwhile, retailer GameCrazy list the release date as even further back than that: 31/03/2008.

Additionally, Nintendo World Report claims that a "trusted source" has told it that Wal-Mart has updated its corporate database to reflect a March release for Smash Bros.

Other US retailers such as Amazon and EB Games are still listing the game as due on February 10th. That date already reflects a slip, with Reggie Fils Aime, Nintendo of America's president, having announced at E3 that the game would be released on December 3rd.

SPOnG contacted Nintendo for more information on when we'll see the game in Europe and was told, "We have made no announcement regarding the release date of Smash Bros. Brawl on Wii."

Slightly depressing stuff, we know. So, to cheer you up, SPOnG's got the latest screens of Snake using his 'Final Smash', the grenade launcher. When you're done with those, mosey over to SPOnG's dedicated game page for more.

I know I should probably be seriously saddened by this, what with having waited in anticipation of it for so long... but I'm almost grateful for the opportunity to catch up on all those games I started playing during the Christmas period.

By the way, looks like Olimar and his Pikmin will be another playable character.
