Back in October we asked a simple question off the back of a
story about a Warhawk patch. We asked, "Where is our bloody dropship?"
So, we looked at the new
Warhawk content that is on the way (apparently in December) with some interest. It's called Operation: Omega Dawn pack and...
...first up is a brand spanking new map going by the name of the name of 'the Omega Factory'. Here's what Sony tells us: "The battle takes place in an entirely new world - an industrial night-time setting where players will fight through five new layouts of advanced building complexes and huge industrial towers. The new map supports all existing game modes – including Team Deathmatch, Zone Mode and Capture the Flag – and is the largest combat zone to date for
Warhawk!"
Also up for grabs will be a swanky new aircraft. Seeing as how the existing aircraft perform exactly the same and just look a bit different, SPOnG was a little bit underwhelmed by that. Until we realised, that was, that this is far from your standard
Warhawk plane!
This is the KT-424 Combat Dropship. Yes, Dropship!
Okay - details: players get to step into one of the aircraft once they get control of one of the weapons factories that litter the new map. This bad boy carries one pilot, six soldiers and one ground vehicle. It also features a new weapon: the MBEC-3 Heavy Support Cannon. Sounds a bit handy, dunnit?
Sony also tells us that we'll have plenty of opportunity to use the dropship, because "the new world is full of vertical gameplay which integrates ship decks, raised platforms, and factory rooftops accessible only by airborne deployment."
The whole job lot comes in the single Operation: Omega Dawn pack and will be available in December.
SPOnG wholeheartedly enjoys
Warhawk. If you haven't already engaged in its brand of frenzied online combat, we
recommend that you do so at the earliest opportunity.
