Nintendo On New DS Model Rumours
There is a new DS model being readied for release sometime next year. At least there is if we are to believe Pacific Crest Securities analyst Evan Wilson.

According to a GameSpot transcription, Evan said, "Our contacts indicate that a refreshed DS is complete," Wilson said on Wednesday as transcribed by GameSpot. "It is thinner (it has no GBA port), has on-board storage, and larger screens."

However, if you believe Nintendo UK, there definitely is NOT a new DS in the offing.

Now, throw in Nintendo of America boss and there's another twist.

George Harrison came back with the following slightly misleading response to Wilson’s claims, telling a interviewer that, "We don't have any imminent plans for an upgrade for the Nintendo DS. The product is still selling extremely well around the world. I'm not sure what his source was for it, but it's not something you're going to hear about any time soon."

Harrison’s use of the words ‘imminent plans’ and ‘any time soon’ set the fanboy rumour mill off, so SPOnG contacted Nintendo UK for further clarification.

"There are absolutely no plans to release a new model DS, this is down to the unfounded claims of a bored analyst", a rep told us today.

When asked about George Harrison’s apparent refusal to quash the redesigned DS rumours outright, our source told us, "That is just a figure of speech. There are no plans for a redesigned DS. That is all".

i belive the rumor states that the redesgin will have a slimmer DS, due to removal of the GBA cart slot, Larger/Brighter Screens, Built in Rumble & Internal memory storage (which would compensate for the DS browser Memory) but i belive this is more of a wish list than an offical rumor.

Yeah ... they already came out with a new model of DS. It's called the DS Lite. That's what's in the photo.

How is this article news? Some guy with no Nintendo authority whatsoever said that someone told him something?
