One week left until our Wii title of 2008 is finally in your sweaty mitts.
Super Mario Galaxy scored a whopping 98% in
SPOnG’s review. There is no question that you need this game. If you don’t yet own a Wii then beg, buy or borrow one immediately.
And hurry up, because, yet again pre-Xmas stock is in limited supply.
Rob Lowe, senior Wii product manager from Nintendo, tells
MCV today that: “It is certainly the biggest marketing campaign for a
Mario title that I’ve ever been involved with. And having played it at some length now – it is an absolutely awesome title, it had me giggling like a child again – which is an amazing achievement for a video game."
Nintendo is putting some serious marketing clout behind
Super Mario Galaxy, with a TV campaign that already kicked off earlier this week on November 5th with the next step of the TV ad campaign kicking in on November 19th.
SPOnG hopes that those legions of casual gamers – ‘the lapsed, the ladies and the elderly’ – that Nintendo has been courting with Wii, buy
Super Mario Galaxy this Christmas holiday season, to see what a proper videogame is like.
“We truly believe that
Super Mario Galaxy is a game that can appeal to anyone who’s ever heard of video games,” added Lowe.
“We really want to bring
Mario back to the masses – and truly cement his status as the number one gaming icon of all time".
Number 1 gaming icon of all time? Arrogance? Or a simple fact of life? Given that all time isn't finished yet, we're open to all answers in the Forum below...
