There are few in the games industry as outspoken as Nintendo chief executive officer Hiroshi Yamauchi.
At a press conference in Tokyo, Yamauchi issued the following inexplicable outburst, "if the GameCube is not received well at E3, our strategy will be compromised, and that will cause a serious blow to our plans. We may even have to consider pigeonholing the sale of GameCube.”
However, as of yet Nintendo not confirmed that the GameCube will be on display at E3. It now looks like it will, but Yamauchi’s comments regarding the pigeonholing of the console are concerning. He is known for making, what could arguably be described as rash decisions and to date US observers like Forbes have been skeptical about the machine’s prospects against PS2 and Xbox.
