Square Enix has confirmed that it will release
Final Fantasy and
Final Fantasy 2 for the PSP in Europe early next year.
We know, we know, we're last in line... again.
Final Fantasy has been available in the States for several months already. Still, better late than never, eh? Especially since Square tells us these are "the definitive versions of the games that established the biggest RPG brand in the world."
The PSP versions of the games will feature re-done graphics and character art, all-new dungeons, full 16:9 widescreen visuals and, for good measure, an updated camera angle.
Square's president and chief executive officer, John Yamamoto, said, “
Final Fantasy and
Final Fantasy II are the foundations of the Square Enix success story. They are the first two steps in the long and distinguished history of the
Final Fantasy Franchise. With these beautiful new versions, fans can now experience the origins of Fiinal Fantasy wherever they go.”
It's been good news all round for handheld
Final Fantasy fans in Europe this week, with Square having confirmed that
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates is
heading for the DS over here.
