Activision, you are the strongest link
As the quiz sensation, The Weakest Link, makes its US debut Activision has signed up the rights to develop and publish the game on home computer and console formats.

This is shrewd move by Activision. Despite quiz computer games historically performing poorly, Eidos proved last Christmas that a successful licensed game can be a real earner when they clinched the festive top spot with Who Wants to be a Millionaire? It surprised many that a relatively simple game should offer such massive mainstream appeal.

No doubt the voice of Mrs Rude, Ann Robinson will be included, enabling families to sit around the PlayStation and have such conversations as: “So Dad, you are a taxi driver by profession aren’t you?”
“I am.”
“Don’t know too much about classic cars though do you?”
“Erm, no.”
“You are the weakest link, goodbye!”

This is what video games are all about.

"This announcement comes on the heels of the tremendous success that BBC
Worldwide has had in selling the format of The Weakest Link game show to
other countries," commented Dave Lee, Director of BBC Multimedia.

"There was intense competition to secure a licensing deal with the BBC for this
great brand. Activision is a solid international company which has
demonstrated to us that it is able to meet the challenges associated with
launching one of our premier properties. We are confident that they can
develop quality games based around our brand for the approved PC and console
formats."

One of the reasons The Weakest Link is proving to be so popular is because of how different it is to every other quiz show produced. Instead of the usual glitzy, everything’s so nice quiz show approach, Ann is abrupt and condescending. Audiences of both T.V and games love originality, so prepare yourself to be insulted by your console.
