New Wii SKU Detailed Inside - No Plans For DVD Wii
The new Wii SKU (stock keeping unit) is not a new colour, a DVD-enabled Wii, a super-duper family educational pack or anything else of significant value or interest. It is, wait for it… a new Wii hardware package that includes the Wii Remote Jacket (pictured) That. Is. It.

Nintendo has now confirmed the most utterly tedious and crushingly underwhelming Wii news of the year.

“We currently have no plans to bring a DVD-enabled Wii to market,” a UK Nintendo rep told SPOnG yesterday.

Why would they? DVD players cost under £10 in ASDA. Jesus!

But doesn't Japan have a DVD enabled Wii? Just like the cube which was called the Panasonic Q out there?

Remember kids, put a rubber jacket on that remote before you start swinging it around.

screw DVD Wii's i'd be happier with a High Deffinition Wii, preferable using HDMI, nintendo need to stop being kids and start giving the consumer what they want

Hello yes im a found fan well maybe ill should say from yester years of a nintendo fan boy ill think its time for all of use to stop complaining and just be straite forward with nintendo im and like every one else is tired of nintendo do wat ever they want and we just sit there hope and pray. do the wait and we see what they do and like always we are always like it never fails always get disappointed and then we just settle and hope that they get there act together the
next year or hopefully in our gaming life time. First all the Revolution/Wii is nuttin much then a scope up GameCube in a new casing with just motions controls in which all the years of secrecey and there non disclosure tactics was just so we wouldn't have known what there was up too if would have predict we would of wasted our time on rehass ps2 or should i say gloryfied gamecube games with just motions sensors control in which developers and now take the same old limited game engines and then apply it to so called new revolutionary game types and cash in on revenue in this new so called next gen or should ill use nintendo term new generations technology eara. now come on nintendi with all ur Bs they we should had a true online services & with some short of a hard drive right out of the box with its price tage look with all u get with the 360 with just 50 more and that just the core im not even getting on the other xsystem & all of them are in high definition. there virtual conceal in which ill don't even know if ill spelled it correctly are a shame & a discrase compared to wat are on the computer and also that is on the 360 atlease the computer emulators versions are in more high definitions and the x360 versions have comparable online connectins with enhancement and rumble. what do we get with nintendo's versions is nutting more than old emulated striped down version with a way for nintendo to cash in on revenue that that they have zero of development time and do a little of no work if any at all of just every week of just updating there so called online shop channels. they need to make a true connectiverty with there home systems to connect like on the lines of what the ps3 & psp do. let u download your game and then transfer them to the ds even if they bring out some sert of flash card so u could do so and what they should do is bring out the next Gameboy/Ds sersessor one screen touch or what ever is technical along the line of what the psp can do or they can either get there system to play miniture gamecube games and an updated optical also with a sd card slot so u could play you're old library and enterduse there next fhase of true 3D of portible gamming. and also let u transfer your virtual concel games too so they could still make money and that way were happy, developers are happy since they are fimilar with gamecube/ps2 game engine and that way they could be again #1 on they portible systems so we don't have to be so anolyd with there decisions and also please nintendo the next new gameboy let it be a multimedia systems that interact with the we I would like it to be a portible gamecube atlease on the lines of the psp and if its a problem using that medium let it at lease play gamecube games with that optical dics and upscale to another medium or at lease put flash rom of 1.5Gig of ram on the system so u could store most of the gamecube's memory on the unit it self so there's on battery issues. that's what we all want Nintendo please if any one agree u could hit me on my email and also is some one could forward this message to Nintendo.com
its time for all of use to get what we want

Is anyone else finding that last post incredibly difficult to read?

Teedog - paragraphs make things easier to read!

Anyway, those jackets make the remote look ridiculous! And the chances of Nintendo doing anything major to the SKU when they still can't keep up with demand for the current one = nil.

Why would they change a winner now? Give it 6 months to a year for that. All the important developments on the wii front for now will be peripheral/online based IMHO, thats where the big cash is.

Cheers

Erm.. Looking at console sales.. I'd say they ARE giving consumers what they want.

They're just not giving geeks who think higher resolutions at the expense of framerates is a good thing, what they want.

(remembers back to when higher-resolution pal versions of games were slated because they had lower frame rates than their ntsc counterparts - and everyone prefered framerates over resolutions)

Yip. But it's not worth the hassle trying to read it, as he's talking crap.. The usual "the wii is nothing more than a cube in a different box" 360 fanboys like to throw around.

"why add dvd functionality" ???
(quite possibly with only a firmware update and an extra controler for anyone who needs extensive dvd player functionality)

oh well it wouldn't hurt having one less ugly silver device under my tv and keep only the wii next to it now would it ???
