Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Games: New Details Revealed
SEGA has let fly new details about the upcoming Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Games, including details of the Wii control system and the list of events.

“The Wii controls are created specifically to replicate the actions that offer the best results for each event”, SEGA tells us. Furhtermore:

“The interactive Wii controls include actions like swinging the Wii Remote to simulate hammer throw, notching the Nunchuk to shoot arrows, and replicating swimming strokes. Players can also discover the best way to win a game by experimenting with different movements to discover secret boosts to propel them towards a win.”

Not vastly surprising, it must be said. A more long-winded document detailing the control system reveals much waggling up and down of the Wii Remote and Nunchuck is to be done. However, in events like archery, SPOnG dearly hopes to find greater depth than the button-mashing we've been seeing in titles such as California Games for years.

As you might have noticed in the screens SPOnG showed you yesterday, there are four different playing styles: All-Around (such as Mario and Amy), Technical (like Peach and Tails), Speed (Sonic, shockingly, and Yoshi) and Power (a la Knuckles and Bowser).

In terms of modes, expect to see Single Match, Circuit (sequences of events that are chosen by either the player or the game), and single-player Mission mode (where players “earn top marks on challenges made for only the toughest athlete”). Additionally, SEGA's thrown in a cuddly 'learn all about the Olympics'-type mode, packed with trivia, quizzes and mini games.
