Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground - Stand Up For Skateparks Benefit

Oh, to live in Beverley Hills. While idly dreaming about living in the world of Tony Hawk, following repeated viewing of the latest Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground trailer (see below) we also heard the news that a Tony Hawk’s 4th annual Stand Up For Skateparks event is scheduled in LA’s swankiest neighbourhood next month.

The line-up for the event reads like a roll-call of skating and Hollywood royalty – including (breathe in…) Tony Hawk, Lance Armstrong, Jimmie Johnson, Leeza Gibbons, Jamie Lee Curtis, David Space, Benicio Del Toro, Shaun White, Jon Favreau, Mat Hoffman, Robert Kotick, Bob McKnight, and Ron Burkle. Phew!

It’s billed as a family-focused day featuring a vert demo with Tony Hawk and other top pros on his personal ramp, an exciting interactive carnival, musical performances, live and silent auctions and unique giveaways.

Proceeds benefit the Tony Hawk Foundation, which supports programs focusing on the creation of public skate parks in low-income communities across America.

See, who said videogames did no good? Buying Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground when it releases later next month indirectly helps poor American children get skateparks built in their neighbourhoods.
