PS3 Rumble: Confirmed!
The rumbling Dualshock 3 has finally been confirmed for the PS3. The announcement was made by Sony Computer Entertainment president Kaz Hirai during his Tokyo Games Show keynote speech. No firm date or price was given, but the controller will be released in Europe, North America and Japan in Spring next year.

The newly rumble-enabled Sixaxis will look exactly the same as the current model, but reports suggest that it feels meatier, carrying more weight.

The announcement has come with a huge long list of rumble-compatible titles, including some that have already been released. A statement from Sony tells us, "PS3 titles that are already in the market may become compatible with the rumble feature through software update." Hirai confirmed that Sony let developers know rumble was coming as soon as it was decided, explaining such a long list of compatible titles.

The news comes as no shock, following a bit of a blunder by EA and rumours that have been circulating since... well, forever.

Sony has been blaming the lack of rumble to date on technical issues that would have driven costs up to unpalatable levels. It's a reasonably safe bet to assume that the settlement of Sony's lawsuit with Immersion is what has led to Sony finally getting its act together.

Cast your eyes downwards for Sony's list of rumble compatible titles.
