Colin McRae, rally driving legend and the man who's name has been attached to numerous Codemasters racing games, has died in a helicopter crash.
The accident happened in Lanarkshire on Saturday. Also killed in the tragic crash were Colin's son, Johnny; Johnny's friend Ben Porcelli, 6 and Graeme Duncan, 37, a lifelong friend of Colin's.
In a statement Jimmy McRae, Colin's father and legendary rally driver, said, "It is with much sadness and regret that we have to make this statement.
"It is unbelievable that Colin and Johnny's lives have been taken so prematurely and in such a tragic manner.
"Colin was a great son, a loving husband to Alison and a fantastic father to Johnny and his big sister Hollie.
"Johnny was a great wee guy, spending every spare minute with his dad, and even at this early stage it looked like he had the potential to carry on the family dynasty."
The latest game to carry the McRae name,
DiRT, was just released for the PS3 on Friday after being available on PC and Xbox 360 since June.
We hope that you'll all join SPOnG in expressing our condolences to the families involved in this awful incident.
