Injured waste of space... whoops... goal-scoring machine, Michael Owen, and some other bloke.
Goal-scoring, miracle man, 'Little' Michael Owen's wait to stare from shelves all neatly dressed in his Newcastle United strip (oh, and some other chap, dressed in his Portugal kit) is nearly at an end as Konami has finally announced the street date for Pro Evolution Soccer 2008.

October 26th is the date to put in your diary.

“We are extremely confident that PES 2008 will be welcomed as the greatest football game of all time,” said Kunio Neo, President of Konami.

Blimey - that's not being backward in knocking the ball long to the big confident fellow up front... and here comes the knock down...

“Demand is massive for what is easily the best Pro Evolution Soccer title to date, and we anticipate record sales as we bring the series to PlayStation 3 for the first time, and unleash stunning versions for all leading formats.”

We'll have to wait for the review copy to slam into the back of SPOnG's eagerly waiting net before we can comment any further...

Dear Konami

As much as I love you and your Pro Evo games and how they've pushed football games forward, I'm gonna be blunt and tell you something.

Newsflash: PRO EVO 8 LOOKS FREAKING AWFUL (for a supposed next gen title)!! I can understand the PSP, PS2 and Wii versions looking the way they do, but you guys really need to build or get in a new graphics engine.

It embarassing now (and we know you japanese folk hate embarassment), especially when I keep seeing what MGS4 looks like. So what the hell happened? Considering how popular the series is, can't you invest in a new graphics engine? Footy doesn't need one you say, I beg to differ. FIFA 08 looks better by comparison.

^^ Jogi,
I have the demo of fifa 2008 on the PS3 and to be honest it isnt gr8, the gameplay is slow and although the graphics aint bad...i just feel the game dont flow well. Im pretty sure konami will match the graphics and also beat the gameplay coz it can't be any worse then fifa 2008.

This is my opionion many people may disagree.

I have the 360 Fifa 08 demo too, it plays better IMO but we'll see soon enough with the full thing. As for graphics next to Pro Evo 08, I disagree. From the videos I've seen of Pro Evo 08, it looks like Pro Evo 4 or 5 and that's not too good for a game that's suppose to be next gen.

Fifa 08 in comparison looks better (just) than the previous 07.

Have a look at videos of the last few Pro Evo games, and try to tell me 8 looks different. It doesn't. Konami seem to be flogging that same engine too much.
