Leipzig: Sierra announces PS3/360 ‘Wet’ Shooter
SPOnG was aware that Sierra Entertainment had a new game to announce at Leipzig this week. What we didn’t expect was that it would be called Wet.

That’s right folks. Wet, we were told earlier, is a stylised shooter starring a curvaceous lady character called Ruby, a sexy little minx who also happens to be a mercenary gun-for-hire equipped with two (independently shootable) pistols, and is also quite handy with a samurai sword.

The game seems to be set in South America and Hong Kong and is, according to the first look our guys have had at it out in Leipzig, very ‘Tarantino-esque’.

Ruby is also an incredible gymnast and can tackle the terrain around her with a number of stylish back-flips, slides and other ‘parkour’ style moves. Reminiscent perhaps of the gameplay in Ubisoft’s superlative Assassin’s Creed (for which we will shortly have the latest screens).

Wet is scheduled for release later in 2008 on both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. With any luck, if only for the comedy factor, Wet Wii will be announced at a later date.

Mish-mash of well-worn movie and videogame clichés or the ‘new Lara Croft’? Only time will tell.

Also sounds very reminicent of DICE's Mirror's Edge, which sounds more enticing in what its doing (all those thing you should be able to do in FPS, besides running , walking and jumping). Parkur is also featured and seems to be able to push the FPS genre in a better direction, a good thing for all.

By the way, how about a Mirror's Edge preview Spong?

Wet? That sounds a bit dirty.
