New teeth to the old favourite

Speaking to SPOnG, Need For Speed ProStreet producer, John Doyle has dropped the bomb that there is no police intervention in the latest incarnation of the old favourite.

"Well, we’ve used the police in the past couple of games to provide consequence. You know, if you mess around with them too much in Most Wanted they’re going to chase you, and that’s quite fun. If you push them too far you get ‘Busted’, and if you get Busted too many times you lose your car. They’re kind of the ‘teeth’ of the game. This year we made damage that ‘teeth’", John tells SPOnG in an interview that you can read right here, right now.

"We wanted to keep the cars on closed tracks and in street locations but we did not put in traffic. We did not put in cops this year, so the goal is really about that racing performance and not so much on the police", he confides while also telling us, "But I don’t think you’ve seen the last of the police in the Need For Speed games."

"We wanted to keep the cars on closed tracks and in street locations but we did not put in traffic"

so damage can only occur from crashng into walls or other racers? and this game is based on damage?

me thinks this is a tame burnout, and using traffic would have made it burnout.

Did you even read the whole article?
If so you are showing a remarkable lack of comprehension.

How did you come to the erroneous conclusion that the game is 'based on damage' and hence anything like Burnout...realistic damage is a feature which has been included, nowhere is it even hinted at that damage is anywhere near to as integral to gameplay as in a Burnout-type game.

Me thinks you are possesed of a tame intellect.

Well Sir, Firstly theres no need to be rude, secondly this isnt the only piece of information on NFS:PS, on the internet if you look around you will see that one of the main focus of this game is about taking damage and using that as scars of battle as such, realistic or not i was comparing it because i feel they have removed traffic because EA feel it will be too simlar to burnout and they wouldnt want to merge too succesful franchises, but maybe i am of tame intellect and just spouting off complete rubbish but as this is an opinion forum then thats ok, just no need for you to get upset because i dont feel i directly insult you or anyone else with my opinion?

me thinks your personality is not tame.

Methinks both of you should brush up on your Middle English.

If you are free to 'spout off complete rubbish', as this is an Internet forum, then I take it as a given that my freedom to ridicule you shall not be infringed. If you're gonna make ill-considered statements (which to my eyes is the height of rudeness), I'm going to mock them, and I will probably be quite rude about it. I'm PreciousRoi, its what I do. Welcome to the Internet...its made of tubes...

The rest of your statement does little to defend your original post. IF and I say if, a 'main focus' of the game is the aquisition of 'battle scars', I still don't see much of a parallel with Burnout...unless such a feature is present in Burnout, which I doubt.

I highly doubt if it is indeed a 'main focus' of the game, main focus of the information you may have recieved perhaps, due to the fact that it is a new feature, and therefore something people would want to know more about...but it would be a stretch indeed to call it a 'main focus of the game'. ITS A RACING GAME...the main focus of the game is winning races (or drifting events, or whathaveyou), and oh yeah, if you take damage to your car, some of the effects are persistent.

Methinks it should have been obvious that my error was a subtle jape in imitation of the OP...p'raps too subtle...

as i do mock your ill considered comments, feel free to disagree, correct or even mock me but as long as its in fun, after all you wouldnt want to hurt my feelings would you? but then again i seem to of hurt yours with my comment, Your "PreciousRoi" and a little sensitive, and the internet is not tubes its pipes long ones, small ones, tall ones and fats ones, that is diversity my friend and it doesnt always agree. as for my statement i thought EA would think a racing game with has a `focus`/`feature` based around crashing with oncoming traffic on closed circuits maybe a little too much like burnout, i find it funny though i have said some really stupid stuff on here and this is the one that gets me grief, ffs i just come on here to relax not piss people off!!, now to make you feel better i will retract my statement and admit im an idiot (??which means i have no right on the internet??) and kiss your cheek, can we still be fwreinds pwlease?

dunno, gues I don't know you well enough to decide yet

not so much hurt my feelings as offended my sense of propriety if that makes any sense...

was reference to something an American politician said, got turned into a meme

which offended me because it was such a kneejerk, thoughtless reaction

which is exactly what pissed me off...you heard damage, and thought oh, damage=burnout, which led to no traffic=lame burnout.

If I thought for one second that you reached this conclusion after careful and logical consideration I...
would be mocking you for an entirely different reason...

It sounds like English, but I can't understand a word you're saying, keep it coming, i can take it, I don't know what your problem is, but I'll bet it's hard to pronounce and I will always cherish the initial misconceptions I had about you. Now i see you've set aside this special time to humiliate yourself in public but you are validating my inherent mistrust of strangers, so with that in mind sir i will end this current forum `chat` and look forward to the inevitable meeting of you again.. no honest i cant wait... no really its true.
