Rockstar has made an official appeal to the Video Appeals Committee (VAC) to get the British Board of Film Classification’s (BBFC) decision to
ban Manhunt 2 overturned.
The publisher made the plea to the VAC yesterday. A date must now be set for the VAC's hearing and both Rockstar and the BBFC must be given notification of the date not less than 14 days before the chosen day. The committee will take into account both Rockstar and the BBFC's positions and see demonstrations of the game.
The chairman of the VAC, John Woods, must now appoint a panel from the committee to hear the appeal and make a decision on
Manhunt 2's fate.
Rockstar has taken nearly the full 42 days (six weeks) allowed to compose its appeal to the VAC.
The only other game that has had to appeal a ban from the BBFC to the VAC was Carmageddon back in 1997. The ban imposed on it by the BBFC was removed by the VAC.
