LucasArts has announced that the next franchise to get the LEGO treatment for games will be
Indiana Jones. SPOnG has the first video below to satisfy your LEGO whip fetish.
The new title will include the first three films in the
Indiana Jones series, following the blueprint laid out by the
LEGO Star Wars games that marked Harrison Ford's first LEGOisation.
As with the
Star Wars games and
LEGO Batman, Travellers Tales will handle development chores.
Jim Ward, president of LucasArts, commented, "In addition to providing the quality bonding time inspired by any good family game,
LEGO Indiana Jones delivers something a little different for everyone. Parents will enjoy the humorous take on some of their favorite movies, and their kids get some rousing action/adventure gameplay that may also introduce them to Indy's original adventures for the first time."
Tom Stone, director at TT Games, also chimed in, saying, "It has been a real joy to work with LucasArts on the
LEGO Star Wars games. Indiana Jones is the perfect character for the next LEGO-based videogame adventure. Indy also presents us with wonderful and memorable cinematic moments. The boulder scene of
Raiders of the Lost Ark in LEGO is hilarious!"
They didn't mention that the game's summer 2008 release will also coincide nicely with the release of
Indiana Jones 4 and make them oodles of quick cash thanks to the existing LEGO game engine. Strange.
Specifics of what platform the game will be released on have not been announced yet. Now dig into the video below for a taster.
