To celebrate the gloom pervading the British Isles courtesy of our appalling weather, Nintendo's casting a supernatural shadow over Virtual Console in the form of
Kirby's Ghost Trap this week. Backing it up is some devilish pinball action from HudsonSoft in the form of
Devil's Crush.
Kirby's Ghost Trap (or
Kirby's Avalanche, if you don't live in Europe) was first released on the SNES back in 1995. It's a clone of the Japanese game
Puyo Puyo, the same title used as the base for
Doctor Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine (which is
already available on Virtual Console). The game revolves around strategically stacking falling blobs to create chain reactions. Getting it right will in turn cause a bevy of ghosts to fall unrelentingly on your opponent.
Kirby's Ghost Trap is available for 800 Wii Points.
Next up is more supernatural mayhem in the form of
Devil's Crush. Originally released on the Turbographx back in 1990, it's the sequel to
Alien Crush. The game takes pinball and adds a healthy dash of the creepy. If you dodge the wandering nasties drifting across the table, there are six different bonus stages to unlock. You can get your flippers on
Devil's Crush for 600 Wii points.
These two games bump up Virtual Console's running total to 116 titles.
