It's taken years, but SEGA has finally given us the opportunity to see Mario and Sonic going at it. In a race, that is. Down below we have footage of the historic first meeting of a hedgehog and a plumber. One day, you'll be telling your kids where you were when you first saw this.
One thing that concerned SPOnG, it must be said, is that SEGA does seem set on doing the unthinkable: having Mario keep up with Sonic. How many outbursts from gaming fandom must there be to stop the two levelling up in a foot race? Sonic's obviously not running at his normal speed, he's giving Mario a chance. Mario's never been athletic, he's always been fat. He kills things by treading on them, that's how fat he is. He's so fat that when his mobile phone rings, people think he's going into reverse.

In what Universe does mario beat sonic?
ok so if its the mushroom kingdom then mario may have a chance, if its sonics homeworld then marios fecked, but as i dont remember in history class the greeks visitng any of these places and it is the olympics so it must be our universe then sonic should be s**t scared of mario and curl into a ball, and mario really should have a heart attack about 3/4 of the way and how the hell did they actually qualify for the olympics? i would want an investigation to this esp the fact that the olmpics arent till next year how is this outcome possible ! i smell some race fixing.
also this must be the first olympics where only 2 countries/worlds/universes/drug induced comas, compete, am i wrong?
also yeah mario is so fat that when jumps in the air he gets stuck!
marios so fat that when he goes on the carousel after the horse limps!
marios so fat that he got when he does princess peach he keeps burning his arse on the bedroom light bulb!

I hope it's more than just olympics with cartoon characters, there needs to be other options to make it more "special," i.e. a reason why Mario and Sonic are in a bloody olympics game in the first place (a creative reason, I don't just mean a narrative). It needs goombas and robots, etc. Maybe in certain modes, you could have goombas as hurdles, or something - something videogame-ish about it. Let's face it - I would expect most hardcore Mario/Sonic fans to be less sport-oriented; there needs to be something "fun" about it to relate to.

yeah i can see it now, Robotnik(never ever will i call him egg man) and bowser create a interdimensianal travel device at the same time and activate at the same time and the worlds collide and are throw to earth at the oylmpics!!! yeah thats well far fetched and cheesy enough for mazza and sonic fans alike!
